Notice that CbC lies in the tray bar, and can be minimized/restored at any time (single click on the tray icon shows the CbC window, a double-click sticks the window to the left of the screen).

| First, create a new project (New Book). |
Enter the Title of your novel and your name. |
Choose the folder where all your MS Word doc Files will be gathered. This is where the ".cbc" file will be saved.
You may resize the dialog (as shown here) if the path name is long.

So, here is your empty book, three dummy acts have been added for convenience, you may delete them or add more. |
| Just add a chapter (almost all functions in CbC are available by left-click on chapters and acts,
others like search/replace in all chapters, book generation, etc. are in the menu of the main window). |
Enter the title of the chapter, a new MS Word doc file will be created with that name.
The new file is opened automatically. |
| Here is now what you have. The blue color is just a flag that you can turn on or off at any time ("Start Writing" and "Done Writing" in the contextual menu).
This is what you have at this time in the book folder on your hard disk. |
| Don't rename chapter files here but with the CbC contextual command "Rename". |
| When you double-click on the chapter item in the CbC window, it opens the belonging chapter document in MS Word. The icon of the chapter in CbC shows a pencil, that means the file is opened: |
| Add the '#' symbol at the beginning of your chapters where the chapter number should appear, CbC will replace it with the correct chapter number: |
Here it is after a few hours of hard writing!
The asterisks indicates unsaved files in MS Word. |
You may generate the whole book at any time (menu Tools>Generate Book!). |
| In the Tools > Settings dialog, you can check some options... |
| Other options are available in the Book > Info dialog... |
